Mr. Loveland’s Statement.

 

      The Card below is inserted on personal request made by Mr. Loveland:

Messrs. Editors: -

      After reading your remarks in last evening’s Herald, in reference to me, I deem it due to myself to ask you to state that I did not intend to authorize my Counsel yesterday to give my views on government to the Court; and disclaim holding to many of the doctrines expressed by him. I simply authorized him to enter for me the plea of noli contendere, protesting at the same time that I am not guilty of violating any law, and requiring the protest to be entered on the records of the Court.
